Europe Day 2024 was a fun and inspiring event, and we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the United Nations Development Programme in Mongolia for their unwavering support. UNYAP looks forward to future collaborations with UNDP and to participating in next year’s Europe Day!
UNYAP Welcomes Zavkhan Province Youth Representatives
UNYAP welcomed youth representatives from Zavkhan Province to the United Nations House in Mongolia, engaging with them in meaningful discussions about sustainable development and the role of young people in achieving the SDGs!
Led by UN Resident Coordinator Mr. Tapan Mishra, the session highlighted the importance of rural-urban connectivity and the unique challenges faced by rural youth. The visit underscored the UN’s commitment to involving youth in policy-making and sustainable development initiatives, and it served as a great opportunity for youth representatives to share their insights on improving education, reducing poverty, and enhancing rural livelihoods. The session concluded with a heartfelt message from the Zavkhan Province Council Secretary, Jugdernamjil Khurelkhuu, expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome and support.
This visit marks the beginning of a promising collaboration between the youth of Zavkhan Province and the UN, aiming to empower young people and foster sustainable development in rural areas. We look forward to future engagements and initiatives that will bridge the gap between city and countryside, ensuring every young person has a role in shaping a sustainable future.

UNYAP on UNICEF's New Project to Improving Sanitation and Hygiene in Flood Vulnerable Communities
UNYAP participated in the launching of UNICEF’s project on “Improving Sanitation and Hygiene in Flood Vulnerable Communities to Enhance Public Health!”
Over the past ten years, Mongolia has experienced a 1.5-fold increase in natural disasters due to the effects of climate change. This was especially evident during the summer floods of 2023 where poor urban construction and lack of proper drainage facilities caused significant damage to buildings, roads, and homes, affecting many people. The floods also heightened the risk of infectious and water-borne diseases, threatening the safety and health of children and families in Mongolia.
The project launch was led jointly by the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia, UN Resident Coordinator in Mongolia and UNICEF Representative to Mongolia. UNYAP volunteered in the organization and introduced the project to attendees.
